CMAF HAM

Web app for video manifest editing

CMAF HAM

Objective

Design and develop a second version of the CMAF HAM UI at Qualabs, transforming a basic prototype into an intuitive tool that allows users to upload files (HLS/DASH), visualize their tracks, edit them, and export in different formats with ease.

Objective

Brief Description

The initial version of CMAF HAM UI was a functional proof of concept, but incomplete: it lacked a user-friendly interface, did not consider typical workflows, and did not allow effective manifest editing. My contribution was to redesign this UI from scratch, focusing on clear flows—upload, analysis, editing, export—and providing modern visual components to enhance the user experience.

Brief Description

Key Features

  • Optimized upload: drag & drop or manual selection of .mpd / .m3u8 files, with instant validation
  • Structured visualization: logical tree presentation of Presentations → Selection Sets → Switching Sets → Tracks
  • Inline editing: pop-up to modify key properties (language, resolution, codecs, duration)
  • Multi-export: simultaneous generation of HLS and DASH manifests from the same structure

Key Features

Result

The new UI transformed the prototype into a robust and accessible tool, significantly more intuitive. It was well received by the video community and was presented at DEMUXED 2024 in San Francisco, generating increased interaction on GitHub View on GitHub and serving as a featured demo at events like MonteVIDEO Tech Summer Camp 2024.
